    BooksForABuck.com Newsletter--April, 2012

    News and Events

Welcome to the April edition of the BooksForABuck.com newsletter.

April is Script Frenzy, the month where writers are encouraged to try to write an entire screenplay in one month (www.scriptfrenzy.org). I'm giving it a try. It's funny that people complain about certain types of genre novel being "formulaic." With the screenplay, there are specific page numbers you shoot for for things like stating the theme (page 5), scene two break (page 25), Bad Guys Close in (55-75), etc. (Note" these examples are taken from Blake Snyder's SAVE THE CAT). Several of BooksForABuck.com's authors are participating (including me). Send good wishes our way.

    Rob Preece, Publisher

    Coming in April:

At the end of BIG SICK HEART by Mike Markel, police detective Karen Seagate had lost her job and descended into alcoholism. But Seagate's firing wasn't quite by the books, so, in DEVIATIONS, the new police chief calls her in. Unfortunately for Seagate, 'by the books' is not exactly one of her strong points. But when a high-profile politician is murdered, Seagate is back on the job with her former partner, Ryan Miner. Markel writes a compelling and gritting mystery. DEVIATIONS will be priced at $3.99 but will be on sale for $1.00 during its first month of availability. Look for it in the second half of April
