    BooksForABuck.com Newsletter--May, 2012

    News and Events

Welcome to the May edition of the BooksForABuck.com newsletter.

In a fit of extreme writing, I completed Script Frenzy's 100 pages. Unfortunately the script is not finished and it's time for me to get back to my writing. If any of you are in the Long Beach, CA area, I'll be attending write-ins at Rick and Brian's at Redondo and 7th most Tuesdays from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in an effort to keep up with my writing. This, by the way, is a good idea. Like working out, it's useful to go someplace and be surrounded by others who share your goals and who can encourage you, brainstorm you through your problems, and generally let you know that you're not the only person struck by the insanity of being a writer.

In the world of eBooks, Microsoft has made a huge investment in a partnership with Barnes and Noble... I anticipate this will make B&N a stronger competitor in the market. Also in the world of Nook, did you see the new eInk Nook with lighting? I like to read in bed after Karen has fallen asleep and having lighting helps. I've been reading that Kindle Fire sales are off in the first quarter after a huge Christmas quarter. I'm very happy with the Fire I bought Karen, so I'm not sure about the reasoning behind this.

With May, we're entering the summer reading season. BooksForABuck.com is proud to offer what I think are some of the best genre fiction out there... at some of the best prices in the market.

    This Month's Release

Deviations by Mike Markel cover Former police detective Karen Seagate is drinking herself to oblivion and having casual sex with losers from the bar when the new police chief tracks her down. It seems there were problems with her departure. A high profile murder gives Karen a chance to work as a detective again... but the new chief is one for the rules and Karen has too many deviations from official protocol. These deviations may get her fired. They may also get her killed. But she's determined they'll also help her find the killer. Between now and June 8, 2012, DEVIATIONS is marked down from its normal affordable price of $3.99 to sell for only $1.00. Check it out here.
