Comment on our Review of THE GRIPPING HAND by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle (see his website)

    Pocket Books, 1993

I agree that this book would be confusing to people who have not read The Mote in God's Eye, but the story was great I thought. Niven and Pournelle's development of the Blaine children's characters is magnificent, and the contrast of Renner and Bury while maintaining their friendship is a master stroke. I do wish that the ends had been tied up a little more, but it just makes me wonder if they have one more book up their sleeve! Overall I rate The Gripping Hand at 3 1/2 stars, and a definite must for afficionados of SF.
